Melissa is my acupuncturist and a migraine-relief savior (you can find her at Melissa Garland Acupuncture). One day, during a session, she told me about a new skin treatment she was offering. The way she described it, her excitement, honesty, and deep knowledge of its benefits ticked every box for an easy sale.
She showed me a little poster she’d designed to promote it. While it looked professional, with her business logo and clear pricing options, it was missing something. It wasn’t clear what problem was it solving, and how would they look and feel after the treatment.
After my not-so-relaxing acu-nap, I gently suggested presenting treatments through a different lens: highlighting the benefits, how you’d look and feel after it, just as Melissa had so beautifully explained to me! And with that, Melissa’s Brand Transformation journey began.
We worked together through the 5 Pillars of a Strong Brand to align her business with her purpose and personality while creating a strong, sustainable brand that feels easy and natural for Melissa.

Your ‘Why’
Melissa’s why wasn’t clear when we started working together. Through our ‘Find Your WHY’ workshop we dug into Melissa past to find memorable moments that shaped her and her core values and found her WHY: Melissa wanted to empower people to live pain-free lives and feel empowered to lead their healing on their terms. However, her branding didn’t fully reflect this mission. We dug deep and uncovered Melissa’s:
✔ Core purpose: Helping clients achieve long-term healing, not just symptom relief.
✔ Brand values: Compassion, empowerment, holistic well-being.
✔ Brand voice: Warm, knowledgeable, and reassuring.
This clarity gave Melissa renewed confidence in her business and set the foundation for a more authentic brand. Knowing why you do what you do will keep you going even on the toughest of days.

When Melissa started her business, just like everyone, she would take any client that wanted to see her. But now that she had been in business for a few years, she was more confident in being selective. After our ‘WHO’ workshop we set out to get to truly know her ideal client, just like you get to know a good friend. We concluded her dream clients are:
✔ Busy professional women (35-65) experiencing burnout, stress, and chronic pain.
✔ Women seeking natural, long-term solutions rather than quick fixes.
✔ Clients who value holistic wellness and preventative care.
Now clear on who her ideal clients are, Melissa’s mindset shifted from trying to serve everyone to focus on getting clients who would benefit the most from her skills. Aligning Melissa’s WHY with her ideal clients gave her clarity and confidence to create deep connections with her clients in a way that feels authentic and easy.

ALIGNMENT
Melissa treatments consisted of single priced treatments or treatment packs with a defined set of sessions – just like any other acupuncture clinic. Knowing now what her ideal clients were struggling with in life and the main health issues they needed treatment for, it became clear that how Melissa’s services were structured wasn’t aligned with her ideal clients’ needs. Together, we:
✔ Refined her core acupuncture offerings to focus on stress relief, women’s health, and pain management.
✔ Designed signature treatment packages for deeper client commitment.
✔ Developed a self-care and wellness plan for clients to continue progress between sessions.
By getting to know more about her ideal clients, Melissa started viewing her business through a different lens. Aligning her services to her clients needs increases client loyalty and positions her as an expert in her niche.

Marketing with intention
Melissa’s marketing strategy was mainly word-of-mouth with no advertising other than creating a website, adding her business to Google Maps and creating social media profiles. Now equipped with her why, clear on who she wants to serve and which services she’s best positioned to offer, it was time to reflect it across Melissa’s website and social media. So we created a simple, sustainable strategy that makes her stand out from the crowd:
✔ Social media: Focused on education, client success stories, and behind-the-scenes insights.
✔ Email marketing: A monthly newsletter with wellness tips, special offers, and personal updates.
✔ SEO-optimised website: A refreshed, user-friendly site with clear services, testimonials, and booking options.
These changes not only increased client retention but also positioned her as an expert in her niche.
